Operations Lead
I Belong Bags Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential items and support to at-risk youth experiencing homelessness in our community. Our mission is to offer a sense of belonging and dignity by distributing backpacks filled with essential and comfort items such as pajamas, toothbrushes, books, blankets, and hygiene products. We aim to foster compassion and make a tangible impact on the lives of youth facing displacement and crisis.
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated individual to serve as an Operations Lead reporting to the Operations Director, playing a vital role in supporting the operations and strategic growth of our outreach efforts. This position requires a commitment of approximately 5 hours per week, depending on demand and available volunteer support. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and able to contribute strategic guidance and oversight for key initiatives. You will be entrusted with overseeing important aspects of the foundation’s work, including inventory management, donation pickups, and deliveries to partner organizations.
Key responsibilities include ensuring efficient operations, fostering partnerships, and contributing to the foundation’s community engagement and social media presence. Candidates with problem-solving skills, experience in logistics, and social media proficiency will be highly valued. A personal vehicle will be required for transportation to facilitate donation pickups and deliveries.
Responsibilities:
- Track the inventory of both purchased items in-kind donations and oversee backpack distributions to clients to ensure smooth operations.
- Guide and support the assembly of backpacks with the Backpack Coordinator at our Chaparral storage facility to meet client demands.
- Responsible for pickup of both purchased and in-kind donations.
- Establish and maintain a request schedule for backpacks, ensuring timely delivery to clients.
- Provide leadership decision-making in addressing any logistical challenges that arise, ensuring efficient operations.
- Contribute to social media campaigns to showcase new partnerships, express gratitude to donors, and promote fundraising events.
- Attend quarterly Board meetings and contribute strategic ideas for enhancing operations and fundraising efforts. (Meeting frequency may vary based on organizational needs.)
- Work with the Operations Director to address gaps and efficiency in operational efficiency.
- Serve as a representative of I Belong Bags Foundation in the community and within your networks to build awareness and forge new partnerships.
- Encourage others to support the foundation through donations, partnerships, and volunteer opportunities.
- As the organization grows, develop and oversee a team of volunteers, be active in the hiring process, provide leadership, guidance and direction as needed supporting our mission and values.

- A commitment of approximately 6 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate fluctuating demand for backpacks and ongoing projects.
- Candidates should have a strong sense of responsibility, problem-solving skills, and the ability to make strategic contributions to the foundation’s mission and goals.
- A personal vehicle is required for transportation for pickups and deliveries, as well as to attend quarterly Board meetings and events.
- Prior experience in logistics, social media management, and/or community engagement is a plus, but not required.

Backpack Coordinator

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated individual to serve as a Backpack Coordinator reporting to the Operations Lead. This role plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our outreach efforts contributing approximately 4-6 hours per week, depending on demand and the number of client backpack deliveries required. The ideal candidates will be highly organized, independent self-starters who demonstrate trustworthiness and reliability, as they will have access to the facility keys. This role involves various responsibilities, including inventory management and backpack packing. Additionally, the Backpack Coordinators should possess problem-solving and communication skills to address inventory challenges and item replenishment. A personal vehicle is required, as backpacks are assembled in our storage location in Chaparral.

Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and strategic individual to serve as a Fundraising Director on our Board. The ideal candidate will have experience in governance, fundraising, and non-profit management, and will be committed to helping guide the organization in fulfilling its mission. Board members are expected to offer their expertise, network, and time to help steer the direction of IBB and ensure long-term sustainability. This Board position requires a commitment of approximately 2 hours per week, depending on demand.
Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with fellow Board members to provide strategic guidance and oversight to I Belong Bags Foundation Funding strategies alongside the Fundraising Lead, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission and vision.
- Ensure coordination and participation in fundraising initiatives and assist with the identification and cultivation of potential donors, sponsors, and partners.
- Support and advise on the development and execution of creative fundraising campaigns and events (both online and in-person) to increase community engagement and raise awareness about our cause.
- Leverage personal and professional networks to identify new opportunities for organizational growth, partnerships, and funding.
- Serve as an ambassador for IBB in the community, promoting the organization’s values and work to the broader public.
- Review and provide input on key organizational decisions, including budgets, strategic planning, and program development.
- Help guide the organization’s use of technology and donor engagement platforms, such as Neon CRM, to support fundraising and track progress.
- Work closely with the IBB leadership team to assess organizational effectiveness and recommend improvements or new initiatives to better meet the needs of children facing displacement and crisis.
- Attend and participate in regular Board meetings, committee meetings, and annual events.
- Oversee Fundraising Lead in determining strategies for events and campaigns.
- Oversee and assist the Fundraising Lead in developing a team of volunteers for events, be active in the hiring process, provide leadership, guidance and direction as needed supporting our mission and values.
Qualifications:
- Strong passion for supporting children in need and making a positive impact in the community.
- Experience in non-profit governance, fundraising, and strategic planning (1-4 years preferred).
- Proven ability to engage with and motivate others, including potential donors, partners, and community members.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.
- Organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
- Experience in financial oversight, budgeting, or strategic planning within a non-profit or similar organization is a plus.
- Comfortable using digital tools, social media platforms, and donor management systems (experience with Neon CRM is a bonus).
- Previous experience with youth-based non-profits or similar organizations is ideal but not required.

This position offers flexibility with a commitment of approximately 5 hours per week, depending on the activities, demand and donor support. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and able to contribute strategic guidance and oversight for key initiatives. You will be entrusted with overseeing important aspects of the foundation’s work, including client and donor engagement, event planning and coordination.
Key responsibilities include fostering partnerships and contributing to the foundation’s community engagement and social media presence. Candidates with problem-solving skills, and social media proficiency will be highly valued.
Responsibilities:
- Work with our team to develop and implement creative fundraising campaigns to support the mission and objectives of I Belong Bags Foundation.
- Identify potential donors, sponsors, and partners through research and networking efforts.
- Assist with existing fundraising events and coordinate new fundraising events, both online and in-person, to engage the community and raise awareness about our cause.
- Utilize social media platforms and other communication channels to promote fundraising initiatives and engage with supporters.
- Work with the Funding Director to create regular and compelling content and materials for fundraising campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Operations Lead supporting In-kind donations and coordinating pickups.
- Attend quarterly Board meetings and contribute strategic ideas for enhancing operations and fundraising efforts. (Meeting frequency may vary based on organizational needs.)
- Familiarity with Neon CRM specifically, or other donor engagement platforms, to connect with donors and develop and maintain marketing campaigns, etc. Using Neon CRM, you will also track and analyze fundraising data to evaluate campaign effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Assist with cultivating and maintaining relationships with donors and supporters to ensure ongoing engagement and support for IBB’s mission.
- As the organization grows, develop and oversee a team of volunteers for events may be required, be active in the hiring process, provide leadership, guidance and direction as needed supporting our mission and values.

- Proven 1-4 years’ experience in fundraising or related fields, with a demonstrated ability to meet fundraising goals and targets.

- Highly organized, detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with a “take-charge” attitude and a willingness to take initiative.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, google docs and other word processing tools etc., as well as social media platforms with a comfort in learning new platforms and tools as needed.
- Experience working with youth-based non-profits or similar organizations is ideal but not required.
